The first group of fishermen arrived this week. There were two guys from High Roller, a fishing lure manufacture, Hoyt and Betty Fincher, and Ron Kelly a taxidermist/artist who makes peacock bass replicas. Dr. Clyde Gibson and his wife, Anne arrived Thursday. They will be here for most of the season.
Everything has been going along as usual. Scott and I moved into our new apartment yesterday. It will be just fine. It has a nice ceiling (no thatch!) and a nice bookshelf, an air conditioner, and a bathroom. We need somewhere to put our clothes, and a few minor things and all will be dandy. There is one major kink…no hot water! They have been trying to install a hot water heater but it hasn't been too successful. I'm not terribly excited about the lack of hot water. Maybe I will sweet talk Betty into letting me shower in her cabana a couple of days a week so I can condition my hair and shave my legs!
A larger group arrived today. It is a group headed by a guy named Rick West, and as it turns out most of the guys live or work in Lewisville. Small world! Larry Smith brought
us a goody-bag from our friend Janna. We were tickled to get a bag of York Peppermint Patties, some gum, a nice letter and a few other goodies. It will be a nice to have this group here. It will be nice to have some things in common with the guests.
Andrew also came back from the States today. He brought a couple of pieces of mail with him in his carry on bag, and a package in his checked luggage. Well his checked luggage was seized in customs in Manaus. Apparently it had boat motor parts in it. They think we will get everything sometime during the week, but they will have to pay import taxes on the stuff. I hope there was nothing major in our package. I'm not too concerned with the boat parts!
Things have been rolling along smoothly with no really big news to report.

Scott and I went fishing with Hoyt today. He drove the boat, but Phil made him take a guide too. Probably a good call. Hoyt has a new GPS that Scott was teaching him to use. Hoyt thinks that the GPS is all he needs to navigate the river, but this thing twists and turns and has so many tributaries that I would never go out there on my own- GPS or not! We caught a few little bitties. I caught a 4 pound peacock and an 8 pounder. Scott caught two babies too, but his were smaller than mine and we didn't weigh them. The eight-pounder that I caught was cool. It was a fighter that jumped several feet out of the water…several times! I swear I have no idea how
